Statement by the Honourable Jim Prentice on the appointment of Col. Donald Ethall as the new lieutenant governor for Alberta
I am pleased to hear of the announcement of retired Col. Donald Ethall as the 17th Lieutenant Governor for Alberta. Col. Ethall is well deserving of this honour to represent Her Majesty the Queen here in Alberta. Canada has been well represented by Col. Ethall’s achievements and efforts as a leader in the Canadian Armed Forces, and in particular, representing Canada with peacekeeping missions in some of the most unstable parts of the world. As one of Canada’s most decorated soldiers I congratulate Col. Ethall on his new role as Alberta’s Lieutenant Governor.
I would also like to thank the Honourable Norman L. Kwong for his service over the past five years as Lieutenant Governor. He has served the people of Alberta and Canada with honour and dedication and I wish him all the best as he enters the next chapter of his life.
The Honourable Jim Prentice, QC, PC, MP
Minister of the Environment and Minister Responsible for Southern Alberta
